Solid.Subscription is a complete subscription system for WordPress that lets you offer Vipps MobilePay Recurring subscriptions without WooCommerce.

The plugin is designed for businesses, membership organizations, agencies, digital services and other WordPress websites that want to accept automatic, recurring payments with Vipps – without depending on WooCommerce or WooCommerce Subscriptions.

You can create custom subscription types, manage subscribers, handle automatic Vipps payments, protect content, grant users access based on their subscription, track revenue and MRR/ARR, process refunds and migrate existing Vipps subscribers from WooCommerce Subscriptions.

Everything is managed directly from WordPress in a modern, easy-to-use dashboard.

Vipps MobilePay Recurring

Solid.Subscription connects WordPress directly to the Vipps MobilePay Recurring.

When a customer starts a subscription, an agreement is created with Vipps for the customer to approve. After that, Solid.Subscription can handle future recurring payments automatically.

The plugin handles the entire subscription lifecycle:

  • creation of a Vipps agreement
  • initial payment
  • automatic renewals
  • upcoming recurring charges
  • payment status
  • failed payments
  • refunds
  • cancellations
  • subscription access period
  • synchronization with Vipps
  • webhook events
  • fallback checks via WP-Cron

Ongoing subscriptions by default

Solid.Subscription is built for true subscriptions.

By default, a subscription is ongoing, which means it continues automatically until the customer or administrator cancels it.

You therefore do not need to specify how many payments the subscription should include.

Example:

NOK 499 / month – continues until cancelled

The customer is charged every month as long as the agreement remains active.

Fixed number of payments

You can also create subscriptions that automatically stop after a specific number of payments.

Example:

NOK 999 / month for 12 months

After the final payment, the subscription ends automatically and no new Vipps charges are created.

This is well suited for:

  • installment plans
  • courses
  • time-limited memberships
  • service agreements
  • campaigns
  • financed services

Subscription with an end date

A subscription can also be set to last until a specific date.

When the end date is reached, Solid.Subscription automatically stops new payments.

The customer retains access for the period that has already been paid for.

Flexible payment intervals

Each subscription type can have its own billing interval.

You can choose:

  • day
  • week
  • month
  • year

You can also specify the number of intervals.

Example:

  • every month
  • every 2 months
  • every 3 months
  • every 6 months
  • every 2 weeks
  • every year

This provides great flexibility for different types of subscription services.

Custom subscription types

You can create as many subscription types as you like.

Each plan can include:

  • name
  • description
  • price
  • currency
  • billing interval
  • free trial period
  • grace period / retry period
  • subscription length
  • WordPress role
  • benefits
  • button text
  • active/inactive status

Solid.Subscription supports NOK, DKK and EUR, among others.

Modern administration

Solid.Subscription v1.3 features a completely redesigned administration interface.

The plugin functions more like a standalone subscription system within WordPress than a regular settings panel.

The dashboard displays, among other things:

  • active subscriptions
  • MRR
  • ARR
  • payment rate
  • revenue
  • latest subscriptions
  • Vipps status
  • upcoming events

There are dedicated sections for:

  • Overview
  • Subscription types
  • Subscriptions
  • Payments
  • Reports
  • Migration
  • Events
  • Settings

All admin pages use a unified SolidWeb design with a dedicated top header and clear navigation.

WordPress access based on subscription

An active subscription can automatically assign the customer a specific WordPress role.

When the subscription ends or expires, the role can be removed automatically.

This makes Solid.Subscription well suited for:

  • membership portals
  • premium content
  • customer pages
  • courses
  • SaaS services
  • support agreements
  • maintenance agreements
  • digital services
  • internal customer areas

Protected content

Solid.Subscription can protect content based on subscription.

You can restrict access to:

  • pages
  • posts
  • custom post types
  • parts of content via shortcode

This allows you to build memberships and premium areas without installing a separate membership plugin.

My subscription

The customer can have their own My subscription-page.

Here, the customer can see:

  • which plan is active
  • price
  • billing interval
  • subscription status
  • next payment
  • payment history
  • subscription duration

The customer can also cancel the subscription if this is permitted.

With a standard cancellation, the customer retains access until the end of the period that has already been paid for.

Automatic payments

Solid.Subscription handles future Vipps payments automatically.

The system calculates the next payment date based on the subscription interval and creates new recurring charges when necessary.

For ongoing subscriptions, this continues automatically until the subscription ends.

For time-limited subscriptions, the payment engine stops automatically when the subscription has reached:

  • maximum number of payments
  • or end date

Payment history

All payments are recorded locally in WordPress.

The administrator can see:

  • customer
  • subscription
  • amount
  • currency
  • status
  • Vipps reference
  • payment date
  • any errors

This makes it easy to review the complete payment history of each subscriber.

Refunds

Solid.Subscription supports refunds directly from WordPress.

You can handle both:

  • full refund
  • partial refund

The refund is also recorded in the payment history and reporting.

Failed payments

If a subscription payment fails, this is recorded automatically.

Solid.Subscription can use a grace period, so the customer does not immediately lose access due to a temporary payment issue.

This can reduce unnecessary churn.

Webhooks

Solid.Subscription uses Vipps webhooks to keep WordPress updated with information about:

  • agreements
  • payments
  • status changes
  • cancellations
  • errors

The plugin can automatically register the webhook from WordPress.

As an additional safeguard, WP-Cron is used as a fallback if a webhook is missed.

Test and production environments

The plugin supports both Vipps's test environment and live environment.

This makes it possible to test the entire subscription solution before using it with real customers.

In the settings, you can configure, among other things:

  • Merchant Serial Number
  • Client ID
  • Client Secret
  • Subscription Key
  • test/live
  • webhook
  • customer pages

There is also a feature for testing the connection to Vipps.

Reports

Solid.Subscription has a built-in reporting system for subscriptions and payments.

You get an overview of, among other things:

  • net revenue
  • gross revenue
  • refunds
  • active subscriptions
  • new subscriptions
  • cancellations
  • successful payments
  • failed payments

MRR

The plugin calculates Monthly Recurring Revenue.

MRR shows the normalized monthly revenue from active subscriptions, including when some subscriptions are billed annually or at other intervals.

ARR

Solid.Subscription also calculates Annual Recurring Revenue.

This provides a simple overview of expected annual recurring subscription revenue.

Reports by subscription type

You can see which subscription types:

  • have the most active customers
  • generate the most revenue
  • account for the highest MRR

This makes it easier to evaluate different plans and pricing models.

Period filter

Reports can be filtered by:

  • last 7 days
  • last 30 days
  • this month
  • last month
  • current year
  • custom period

CSV export

Payment data can be exported to CSV.

This is useful for:

  • Excel
  • accounting
  • analysis
  • reporting
  • archiving

Different currencies are handled separately so that amounts in, for example, NOK and EUR are not mixed together.

Migration from WooCommerce Subscriptions

Solid.Subscription has a dedicated migration feature for websites that already use:

WooCommerce Subscriptions + Vipps Recurring

The goal is to make it possible to move existing Vipps subscriptions to Solid.Subscription without restarting the subscriptions.

Scan existing subscriptions

The migration tool finds active WooCommerce Subscriptions that use Vipps Recurring.

It reads, among other things:

  • customer
  • subscription
  • WooCommerce products
  • price
  • currency
  • billing interval
  • next payment date
  • Vipps Agreement ID

Verification with Vipps

Before migration, the agreement can be checked directly against Vipps.

Solid.Subscription compares, among other things, information from WooCommerce with the agreement at Vipps.

Agreements with unexpected price or interval discrepancies are blocked from automatic takeover.

Dry run

Before anything is changed, a preview of the migration is displayed.

This makes it possible to review the subscriptions before they are actually imported.

Automatic plan creation

WooCommerce products can be automatically converted into subscription types in Solid.Subscription.

Example:

Support agreement – NOK 599 / month

can become an equivalent Solid.Subscription plan with the same price and billing interval.

Existing Vipps agreement is retained

Solid.Subscription can import the existing Vipps Agreement ID.

The goal is to ensure that the customer does not have to create and approve an entirely new subscription connection.

Secure transition

The migration takes place in several steps:

Scan → Verify → Import → Take over billing

Initially, the subscription is imported into Solid.Subscription with billing paused.

WooCommerce therefore continues as before until the administrator actively chooses to complete the takeover.

Take over future payments

Once the migration is complete, Solid.Subscription can take over future Vipps renewals.

The WooCommerce subscription is retained as history, while payment responsibility is transferred to Solid.Subscription.

Existing upcoming Vipps charges can be adopted where possible.

Protection against duplicate payments

An important goal of the migration engine is to reduce the risk of both WooCommerce and Solid.Subscription attempting to charge the customer for the same period.

Solid.Subscription therefore does not start its own billing until the WooCommerce component has actually been disconnected.

Rollback in case of errors

If a critical migration step fails, Solid.Subscription attempts to restore the previous WooCommerce settings.

This includes, among other things:

  • payment method
  • Agreement ID
  • renewal-status
  • next payment date

No WooCommerce required

After the migration, Solid.Subscription can operate entirely without WooCommerce Subscriptions.

For new installations, you do not need WooCommerce at all.

This provides:

  • fewer plugins
  • less code
  • less complexity
  • simpler administration
  • less WooCommerce overhead
  • a solution built specifically for subscriptions

Suitable for many types of subscriptions

Solid.Subscription is suitable for, among other things:

  • maintenance agreements
  • support agreements
  • memberships
  • SaaS services
  • premium content
  • digital service subscriptions
  • news and magazine subscriptions
  • customer clubs
  • maintenance agreements
  • courses
  • service agreements
  • monthly services
  • annual agreements

Solid.Subscription

Solid.Subscription is designed for businesses that want a simple, professional, and complete Vipps subscription system directly in WordPress.

No full online store is required.

WooCommerce Subscriptions is not required.

Just:
